John C. Sullivan

John C. Sullivan, 88, of Edwards, Missouri, formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 11, at his home.
He was born September 16, 1926, in Evansville, Ind, the son of William H. and Grace M. Roadwell Sullivan. He married Barbara J. Sulentic on June 19, 1951, in Bentonville, Ark, and she died in 2005.
John served in the United States Marine Corp 3rd & 5th Marines during World War II, in the Pacific Theater. He was employed with Illinois Central Railroad for 39 years, during that time was a member of BORT, UTU and treasure of Local 493, retiring in 1986. He was a 66 year member of Waterloo Masonic Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M., a 63 year member of El Kahir Shrine Temple, a lifetime member of the Waterloo Amvets and VFW, a lifetime member of the American Legion, Warsaw Leathernecks, Det. 1254 all in Warsaw, Mo.
Survivors include: a son John R. (Cindy) of Edwards, Mo; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a son, Donald P. Sullivan and a brother, Edward W. Sullivan; two sisters, Thelma Fairholm and Violet Hanna.
Services: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 17, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation from 5-8 P.M. Monday where there will be a 7 P.M. public Masonic Service by Waterloo Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M., visitation also one hour prior to services Tuesday.
