Beverly Jean Youngblut

May 5, 1928 - April 15, 2015

Biography--

Beverly Jean Youngblut, 86, of Gilbertville, died Wednesday, April 15, at Allen Memorial Hospital under the care of UnityPoint Hospice from complications of pneumonia.

She was born May 5, 1928, in Dubuque, the daughter of Leonard “Doc” and Vera Caroline Wilson Schmitz. She married Norman George Youngblut on November 23, 1948, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville and he died September 12, 2000.

Beverly was the owner/operator of the Dew Drop Inn in Gilbertville, along with her husband. They also farmed in the area and she was employed at Kmart for ten years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Rosary Society and the Jim Beam Bottle Club. She also volunteered at Covenant Medical Center.

Survivors include: her son, Ronald (Louise) Youngblut of La Porte City; five grandchildren, John (April) Youngblut, Jennifer Carron, Paula- Jean (Eric) Pecenka; Joshua (Jenna) Youngblut, and Amanda (Kyle) Schueler; nine great-grandchildren, Preston & Azariah Carron, Peyton & Menah Pecenka, Adeline & Avery Youngblut, Lily Youngblut, Nora & Gabbi Schueler; a sister, Claudette (Robert) Webber of Sturgis, Mich; daughter-in-law, Pam Youngblut of Waverly; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Schmitz of Gilbertville, and Maye Youngblut of Washburn.

Preceded in death by: her son, Randy Youngblut; a brother, Melvin “Sonny” Schmitz.

Services: Saturday, April 18, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery both in Gilbertville. Public visitation Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street where there will be a rosary and vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or Camp Courageous.
