Earl F. Jago, Jr. 91, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, April 14, peacefully at home with his family.

He was born October, 7, 1923 in Chicago, Ill., son of Lt. Col. Earl F. Jago Sr. and Hazel M. Jackson Jago. He married Ardyce L. Hughes on June 19, 1948 in Waterloo.

Mr. Jago graduated from Alta High School. He worked for the FBI in Washington D. C. and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II, flying B. 17’s as a Cpt. He owned and operated a Boat & Motor Business in Waterloo before becoming Deputy Assessor for Black Hawk County and then the City Assessor for Waterloo for 32 years.

Survived by: Ronald (Nancy) Jago of Palmetto, Fla., and John Jago of Waterloo; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his wife 2008; a son, Jim Jago in 2001.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. Public visitation will be for an hour before services on Monday.

Earl played football in high school, scoring the only touchdown of the season in his senior year. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and taxidermy. In retirement he loved building and flying R. C. airplanes.
