Harold Reiter, 93, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

Harold was born December 31, 1921, at the family home in Eagle Center, the son of Leo and Angela Klein Reiter. He married Jacqueline Catherine Bedard on November 11, 1942, in Eagle Center.

Harold farmed in the Eagle Center area along with his wife for many years. Harold served on the Don Bosco High School Board, Board member of the East Central Iowa Co-op, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include: his wife Jackie, of Eagle Center; eight daughters, Audrey (Dick) Young of Swisher, Elaine (Shelby) Lay of Aurora, CO, Beverly (Mike) Chapman of Newton, Rebecca (John) Johnson-Stewart of Dubuque; Julie (Rick) Dengler of Elkader; Wanda (David) Thackery of Mt. Vernon; Georgia (Larry) Reiter of La Porte City, and Pam (Rod) Frost of Farmington, MN; seven sons, Russell (Marianne) of Hudson, Douglas (Janet) of Jesup, Hal (Dee) of Buckingham, Daniel (Kim) of La Porte City, Leo (Jackie) of Jewell; Samuel of Frisco, TX, and Theodore (Angie) of Prior Lake, MN; 56 Grandchildren and 51 Great-Grandchildren; two sisters, Luella Zmolek of Cedar Falls and Olivia Werner of Des Moines; a brother, Donald (Phyllis) of Waterloo; three step-sisters: Patricia McKenna of Waterloo; Villanova Foss and JoAnn (Cletus) Phillips all of La Porte City.

Harold was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Reiter, Magdalen (Ves) Burk, Dorothy (Leo) Bohnstengel; a brother-in-law, Chuck Werner; granddaughter, Kimberly Chapman; two sons-in-law, Eric Johnson and Jim Rothmeyer.

Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, April 25, at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery both in Eagle Center. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Friday at the church where there will be a 3 P.M. family rosary and 7 P.M. vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street is in charge of arrangements.
