Biography--

Ernest “Bud” Jergens, Jr., 87, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and formerly of Evansdale, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 21 at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown.

He was born October 15, 1927 in Horton, the son of Ernest and Edith Shipp Jergens.

He married Loretta May Morgan December 21, 1945, she died in 1976. He married Donna Baker December 2, 1978 and she died in 1988.

Bud graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1944. He was retired from Carnation Milk Company and UNI. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Melba (Tim) Michelfelder of San Ramon, Costa Rica and Sharon (Jon) Delaney of Waterloo; five step-daughters, Vicki (Steve) Auditore of Dayton, Ohio, Barb Baker of Chesapeake, Va., Julie Leason and Lori Baker of Cedar Rapids and Tammy Tompkins of Readlyn; a daughter-in-law, Sheri Jergens of Lake Havasu City, Ariz; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Nancy) Jergens of Cedar Falls and his companion of 20 years, Sheila Porter of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Mike; and a brother, Elmer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Linden United Methodist Church, Waterloo with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 pm public Masonic Service by Black Hawk Lodge #65 A.F.& A. M. Visitation will continue for an hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Memorials may be directed to the Shrine Children’s Hospitals or to the family.
