Biography--

Robert M. “Bob” McKinley, 85 of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 18 at Unity Point-Allen Hospital of cancer.

He was born August 8, 1930 in Jesup, son of John and Bertha Beebe McKinley. He married Miriam A. Schuman January 28, 1956 in Waterloo.

Bob graduated from Jesup High School in 1948 and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was employed with John Deere from 1948-1987. He was a member of the Waterloo Auxiliary Police Force from 1965-1985.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shelly (Richard) Gilson of Waterloo; two sons, Mark (Gretchen) McKinley of Dunedin, Fla. and Michael (Amy) McKinley of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Scott Gilson, Tara Tabor, Allison and Amber McKinley; a step-grandson, Darin Leitz; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Gross of Sedro Woolley, Wash. And several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a sister, Iva Jane Mingus.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the US Navy Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4-8 pm Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 pm rosary and a 7 pm vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church.
