James Wagg

July 30, 1930 - September 14, 2015

James Wagg, 85 of Iowa City, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, September 14 at Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha.

He was born July 30, 1930 in Wapello, son of Clifford “Wayne” and Lillian Westfall Wagg. He married Rosemary E. Kinnetz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua in 1957. They were later divorced.

James attended Wapello Schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was employed with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, as an installer and repairman. James was treasurer for the Communication Workers of America Union Local #7108 for 11 years. He was a member of the Waterloo VFW Post 1623 and the Korean War Veterans Association.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne (David Burlingame) Wagg-Quinn of Iowa City and Christina (Bill) Kenkel of LaVista, Neb.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother and five sisters.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1623, American Legion Post 138 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be for an hour before services.

Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
