July 3, 1928 - September 26, 2015

Ely B. Katz, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, September 26 at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born July 3, 1928 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Sophia Katz. He married Shirley Meyers January 7, 1962 in Chicago, Ill.

Ely owned and operated Katz Auto for 50 years.

As a man who was extremely devoted to his family, Ely is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley of 53 blessed years; two loving sons, Danny of Los Angeles, Calif. and Joseph of West Hollywood, Calif. and an adoring daughter, Sophia Katz (Danny Meadows) of Chicago, Ill.

Preceded in death by a sister, Rosemary Greenberg and his parents.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Beth Olem section of Memorial Park Cemetery.
