SCHAULS, FRELINGER, MAGNER

Norman John Schauls, 78, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 30, at North Crest Specialty Care.

He was born March 9, 1937, in New Albin, son of Nick and Della Frelinger Schauls. He married Delores Marie Magner September 28, 1957 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, at West Ridge near Waukon. Norman graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing in 1955.

He farmed near Lansing for a few years. He retired from John Deere in 1995 after 31 years as a Tool and Die maker.

He served as a Deacon at the Community of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of Dubuque.

Survivors include his wife, Delores; two sons, Mark (Berdell) Schauls and Mike Schauls both of Waterloo; three daughters, Maureen (Greg) Bazan and Madonna (Joe) Morrison of Waterloo; Marjean (Bob) Taylor of Flagstaff, Arizona; 18 grandchildren, Scott, Kyle (Jessica), Jeremiah (Jennifer), April, Zach, Nathan, Chris, Saleena (Chase), Adam (Dawn), Dan, Jacob (Emily), Dave, Kenneth, Kathleen, Tyler, Tony, Lindsey, Caleb; 8 great-grandchildren, Josie, Jaylynn, Preston, Keelan, Elaina, Gideon, Lillian and John; and a sister, Janet Fredrickson of Moline, Illinois.

Preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Ann; his parents and brothers, Ronald, and Joseph in infancy.

Services will be on Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour preceding services at the church on Monday.

Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on Ridgeway Avenue is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Norman enjoyed genealogy and working on computers.
