Biography--

Jay F. Hoffman, 89, of Evansdale, Iowa, died at Covenant Medical Center on Sunday, November 16, 2014.

Jay Fredrick Hoffman was born March 22, 1925 in Newton, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Mabel Irene Gaskins Hoffman.

He married Marian Jeanette Alderson on November 4, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1944. Jay attended business school in Waterloo and then Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis. He managed the Public Employees Credit Union for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1988.

Jay was a member of the Hammond Avenue Brethren Church in Waterloo.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Jeanette Hoffman of Evansdale; granddaughters, Jennifer Siebold and her husband David and Amy Wenham and her husband Chris, both of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Alexis John and her husband Travis of Commerce City, Colorado; and grandson, Jay Charles Hoffman of Denver, Colorado; eight great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-law, Deb Hoffman of Waterloo; four nieces: Julie Huber and her husband George, Lisa Drape and her husband Scot, Jan Pratt and her husband Lyle, and Leann Hoffman; and close friends, Roger and Dorothy Goldsberry of Waterloo.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents; son, Jay F. Hoffman II; brother, Charles Ray Hoffman; and sister-in-law, Kay Hoffman.
