Tyler A. Swyter, 21, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at home Sunday, October 4, 2015.

He was born April 20, 1994, in Waterloo, son of Mike R. Swyter and Karen A. McAleer.

Tyler graduated from Waterloo West High School in 2012 and worked for Credit Bureau Enterprises.

Tyler’s passion was hockey. He played for the Waterloo Junior Hawks while growing up, and most recently on an adult rec league. He also played baseball for many years, and was learning how to play the guitar. Tyler was a hard worker. He loved to hang out with family and friends, go to rock concerts, and of course play hockey. He was so full of life and so full of love. He will be greatly missed by many.

Survived by: his mother and stepfather, Karen and Tim Schatz of Waterloo; his father and stepmother, Mike and Tana Swyter of Waterloo; two brothers, Matthew and Cooper Schatz, both of Waterloo; a sister, Kacy Swyter of Waterloo; maternal grandparents, Mark and Faye McAleer of Mount Vernon, IN; paternal grandfather, Roger (Beth) Swyter of Marion; paternal grandmother, Marvel Pierce of Waterloo; an aunt, Pam Swyter of Waterloo; two uncles, Robert McAleer of Glenwood and Jeremy McAleer of Barbersville, W.Va.; and many cousins and extended family.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Andrew Schatz; and grandparents, Arnie and Pat Schatz.

Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, October 9, 2015 at Prairie Lakes Church: 1907 Viking Road, Cedar Falls.

Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Locke Funeral Home
