Biography--

Richard L. "Dick" Schwab, 73, of Waterloo, died at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics on Saturday, January 17, 2015 following a stroke.

He was born on May 22, 1941 in Isanti, MN, son of Lawrence and Alice Boettcher Schwab. Richard graduated from Waterloo East High in 1960.

He served for the US Army in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Richard married Dianne E. Thompson April 25, 1970 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, she died December 5, 2004.

He worked in the foundry and then in security at John Deere and later in security at Tyson Foods.

Richard was proud of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, going for rides and camping. Richard was caring and generous and liked to visit with others. He was involved as a Boy Scout Leader and was fond of dogs, especially his son Brian’s dogs.

Richard is survived by two sons, Bradley (Melissa) Schwab and Brian Schwab both of Waterloo; a brother, Donald (Janice) Schwab of Waterloo; a Sister-in-law, Doris (Harold) Saathoff of Waterloo; and two grandchildren, Joseph and Marissa.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
