Monday, February 2, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with military rites by Cedar Falls AmVets Post 49.

Visitation:
Sunday at Locke Funeral Home, with Rosary at 3:00pm and Vigil service at 7:00pm.

Biography--

James “Jim” Carney, 78, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health–Allen Hospital on Wednesday January 28, 2015 from a lengthy illness.

He was born on October 23, 1936, in North Washington, Iowa, son of Clair H and Marcella (Sally) Ungs Carney. On June 4, 1956 he married Janet S. Kirst at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton. Jim attended North Washington High school and earned his GED and a police science degree from Hawkeye Technical College.

Jim served in U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He was employed at the Williamstown creamery, Oliver Crop., Rath Packing Co., Black Hawk County Conservation as a park officer, and later worked for John Deere until retiring in 1987. He was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Jim was proud of his family and cherished family time. He took care of others and had a good sense of humor. His hobbies included fixing cars, woodworking and being a loyal Cubs fan.

He is survived by: his wife, Janet Carney; a daughter, Betty Hope (Neil) Carden of Goodyear, AZ; a daughter, Beverly (Mike) Bahlmann of Denver: a son, William Carney of Waterloo; Seven grandchildren: Courtney (Adam) Hunt, James Hough, Matt Hough, Curtis Carney, Hunter Wendt, Keenan Bahlmann and Jayden Bahlmann. Close friends of the family, Mike and Brenda Charlie of Arizona.
Seven brothers: Francis (Lois) Carney of Des Moines; Jack (Roberta) Carney of Stockton, MO; Tom (Debbie) Carney of Arvada, CO; Duane (Janice) Carney of Unionville, MO; Pat (Carol) Carney of North Liberty; Gary (Linda) Carney of Waterloo; Dean Carney of Waterloo; and two sisters: Anna May Gavigan of Waterloo and Joan (David) Farus of Lafayette, CO.

Jim was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Carney; his parents; and two brothers, Larry and Ron Carney.
