Biography--

Brent J. Bergstrom, 44, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, March 25, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 30, 1970, in Waterloo, son of James C. "Jim" III and Wanda Iehl Bergstrom.

Brent graduated from Calumet Baptist School, Griffith, Indiana, in 1989, and then earned his degree in education with a minor in computer science from the Indiana University, South Bend. He was currently finishing his masters in educational computer science at the University of Northern Iowa. He taught math, computer, Bible and physics classes at Waterloo Christian School, formerly Walnut Ridge Baptist Academy.

Brent was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church where he ran the sound system and Power Point presentations for services and was on the finance team. Brent (Mr. B) was part of the school's leadership team; he initiated and headed up the Scrip program; IT coordinator for the Christmas and Patriotic programs; statistician for volleyball and basketball games- including bus driver many times for away games; set up computer labs, built computers or fixed computers as needed and was responsible for all the techware in the building.

He will be remembered as the calm voice of wisdom for all those whose lives he touched.

Brent enjoyed making a variety of jams and jellies to give friends and staff. He was also a fan of science fiction, especially Star Trek. Over the years, Brent had become known for having a large collection of neckties.

Survived by: his mother of Waterloo; two sisters, Julie and Anna Bergstrom, both of Waterloo; brother, David Bergstrom of Monticello, Minnesota; two nieces, Lauren and Rachel; and maternal grandmother, Mary Iehl of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his dad, James C. “Jim” Bergstrom III.
