Biography--

Elizabeth E. Rote, 85, of Waterloo, died March 28, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center.

Elizabeth was born on March 16, 1930 in Belle Plaine, daughter of George and Margaret Kaplan Chamberlin. She grew up in Waterloo and graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1947.

On September 6, 1947 she married Ray C. Rote in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1983.

Elizabeth was a custom drapier, she owned and operated "I Do Windows" until retiring in 1987. She also had worked for Black's and Donaldson's in their drapery departments. She was a member of TOPS club and served as past leader, treasurer, and weight recorder for TOPS.

Elizabeth enjoyed crochet and making afghans. She was proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she loved spending time with them, playing cards, and having them spend the night for a sleepover.

She is survived by three sons, Daniel Rote of Waterloo, Steven (Claudia) Rote of El Paso, Texas, and Harry (Connie) Rote of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Linda Morse of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Richard Chamberlin of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter in-law, Patty Rote of Lovila; step-daughter in law, Cita Morford of the Philippines; 23 grandchildren and many great‑grandchildren.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by: her husband; a son, David Rote; a step-son, Gary Morford; three brothers, Robert, William, and Donald Chamberlin.
