Biography--

Wayne R. Odekirk, 76 of Waterloo, Iowa, died at the UnityPoint Health—Allen Hospital Friday, April 24, 2015.

He was born on March 20, 1939 in Maynard, Iowa, the son of Arvid W. and Letha M. Lauck Odekirk. Wayne graduated from Maynard High School in 1957.

He married Mary Lou Jepson, September 25, 1960 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Wayne was a machinist at John Deere for 42 years, retiring in 2001.

Wayne was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1961 and was past president and vice president of the church council, member of the choir, and board of elders. He was a member of the Black Hawk Officials Association and had refereed since 1965. Wayne enjoyed golfing, bowling, and singing in the Metropolitan Chorale.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou of Waterloo; his two sons, Steven and his wife Nancy of Charleston, West Virginia and David and his wife Carol of Waterloo; a daughter, Amy Dominguez and her husband Roy of Berwyn, Illinois; six grandchildren: Connor, Lily, Taylor, Spencer and Logan Odekirk and Alec Dominguez; a brother, Dean Odekirk and his wife Connie of Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister-in-law, Frances Odekirk of Cedar Falls, Iowa.
