Mary (Bauman) Zimmerman – September 26, 1859 – October 4, 1944

MRS. MARY ZIMMERMAN

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, 85, of 725 Washington Street, who died of complications Wednesday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ward N. Chase, in Battle Creek, Michigan, will be held here at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, with Mrs. Zimmerman’s nephew Rev. Fr. Louis Gruewald, Haverhill, Iowa officiating
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery here.

The Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters of st. Joseph’s will meet at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the Rosary society at 8 p.m. Friday in the O’Keefe & Towne Funeral Home to recite the rosary.

Mary Bauman, daughter of John and Mary Peppert Bauman, was born September 26, 1859 in Tachau, Austria, and came to the United States in 1881. In September that year she was married to August Zimmerman in Waterloo. The couple lived at Winslow, Iowa, for two years and then moved to Waterloo, where she had resided the past 61 years. She was a member of St. Joseph’s church here.

Surviving besides Mrs. Chase are another daughter, Mrs. C. Noble, 79 East Parker Street; a son, C. J. Zimmerman, 875 Prospect Boulevard; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, three sisters, and a daughter.
The body will arrive at the O’Keefe & Towne Funeral Home Friday morning.
