WATERLOO - Alvin Ray Kastli, 72, of Waterloo, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1942, in Oelwein, son of Ernest and Dorothy (Warnke) Kastli. He was united in marriage to Ila Rae Derifield on July 9, 1962, in Waterloo.

Al retired after 32 years from John Deere in 2001.

Survived by his wife of Waterloo; two sons, Steve of Ankeny and Mike (Teri) of Waterloo; two daughters, Brenda (Larry) Leistikow of Waterloo and Vanessa (Mark) Drill of Nicollet, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Jim of Fairbank and Tom of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Bryon Kastli; two brothers, Don and Georgie Kastli; and two sisters, Ila Phares and Violet Schmitz.

Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran church, with burial in Garden of Memories. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials May be directed to the family

Al loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Al enjoyed racing, working with his son building race cars, working at auctions with his nephew and tinkering around in his garage. He also took great pride in his yard.
