WATERLOO - Edward M. Johnson, 86, of Fairmont, Minn., formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont.

He was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Northwood, son of John and Mabel Skjeveland Johnson. He married Florence Tuitjer on April 21, 1951, in Greene. She died in 1994.

Edward had worked for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a line splicer until retiring in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-47, serving on the USS Huntington.

Survived by a brother-in-law, Naaman Haren of Parkersburg; and a sister-in-law, Lois Johnson of Humboldt.

Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bob; a daughter, Ronda; two brothers, Clifford and Richard Johnson; and five sisters, Myrtle Johnson, Amy Eslinger, Mary Haren, Bernice Gorham and Crystal Squier.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel, Fairmont, with burial at a later date in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Martin County Conservation Club.
