Pauline "Polly" Mills
January 16, 1930 - October 17, 2014WATERLOO - Polly Mills, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Affinity House, Waterloo.
She was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Washington, Iowa, daughter of Aaron E. and Laura M. Eisele Stafford. She married Ralph Mills on Aug.3, 1952, in Carmel, Calif. He preceded her in death Oct. 30, 1973.
Polly graduated from New Hartford High School in 1948.
Survived by a son, Steve (Deneen) of Waterloo; three daughters, Sherry (Gene Averhoff) Mills of Dorchester, Cindy Mills of Des Moines and Cathy (Dennis) Bouska of Altoona; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Cloyce Stafford, of Waterloo; and two sisters, Virginia Platt of Cedar Falls and Betty Kroblin of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by her parents; a son, Sam Mills; a brother, Everett Stafford; and a sister, Alta Hekel.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Bennington Township, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
She loved living on the farm and working with her flowers and gardens.
