FAIRBANK - Dona Mae Venz, 87, of rural Fairbank, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

She was born May 30, 1927, in Dunkerton, daughter of Joe Moulds and Edna Mae Cummings Moulds. On June 22, 1947, she married Lester Wilbur Venz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He preceded her in death in 1992.

She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1944. In earlier years Dona worked at Rath Packing, the Waterloo Abstract office and for 26 years at the Bell Telephone office, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup, and did volunteer work at the Mental Health Institute in Independence. She received the Governor’s Volunteer Award in 2003.

Survived by a daughter, Lesona (John) Walker of Hazleton; a son, Steven (Jerry Lea) of Tuttle, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Venz of Independence; five grandchildren, Sarah (Troy) Lange, Matthew (Jesse) Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, Lester Venz and Kaylea Venz; four great-grandchildren, Kacie Lange, Kaden Lange, Memphis Rogers and Aiden Rogers; a sister-in-law, Doris Adams of Ionia; and a special friend, Charles Miller of Fairbank.

Preceded in death by a son, Jack; her parents; a brother, Gordon Moulds; and two sisters, Irene Wittkop and Marlyn Fox.

Services 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Jesup, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Dunkerton. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
