CEDAR FALLS - Alyce M. Breese, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Glen Arbor of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Elma, daughter of George and Margaret Trunkey Evans. She married John W. Breese on May 25, 1950, in Waterloo. He died in 1974.

Mrs. Breese graduated from Elma High School in 1945 and Allen Hospital School of Nursing, Waterloo, in 1948. She was employed as a registered nurse at Schoitz Memorial Hospital from the late 1970s until retiring in 1991. She also volunteered as a greeter for Covenant Clinic.

Survived by a daughter, Margie Breese of Dubuque; and a son, Mark E. of Newport, Wash.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Georgene Evans and Gwendolyn Smiley; and a son, Alan in 1976.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home Chapel and 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery with visitation for an hour before each service, and burial in the cemetery. Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo, is in charge of arrangements.
