EVANSDALE, IOWA - Bernice E. Lehmkuhl, 83, of Delhi, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, Iowa.

She was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Waterloo, daughter of James Milton and Vera Elizabeth Shaulis Bailey. She married Herbert Kern on June 16, 1947, and later divorced. She married Charles Lehmkuhl in Lancaster, Mo. He preceded her in death.

Bernice was a crib attendant at John Deere for 13 years before her medical retirement in 1996.

Survived by her significant other, Jack Cornelius of Delhi; two sons, Herbert Milton (Bonnie) Kern of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ronald Henry (Cindi) Kern of Evansdale; four daughters, Karla Sue (Richard) Tournier of Greentop, Mo., Frances Lee (John) Robbins of Evansdale, Teresa Ann (Mark) Fulmer of Cedar Rapids and Cheryl (Ted) Kern Kelley of Delhi; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bert (Bonnie) Bailey of Big Lake, Alaska.

Preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Bailey.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
