WATERLOO - Wayne Claassen, 92, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014. in Cedar Falls.

He was born June 9, 1922, in Grundy County, son of Sam and Martha Neessen Claassen. He married Aniceta D. Drilling on Nov. 25, 1948, in Waterloo.

Wayne served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and he graduated from Ohio University with a civil engineering degree. He started Wayne Claassen Engineering and Surveying in 1960, retiring in 1987.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Sam (Mary) of West St. Paul, Minn., Bill (Bonnie) and Tom, both of Waterloo, and Bob (Anne McCabe) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Anne (Stephen) Brown of Marion; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Arvilla Berry of Hemet, Calif.

Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
