The funeral of Charles R. Dwyer, 709 South Street, past commander of Fred Willier camp 11. United Spanish War Veterans, will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Kearns Garden chapel by Rev. Charles T. Gunnell, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, where Fred Willier camp will conduct a ritual and King-Marson chapter. Disabled American Veterans, will have a firing squad and bugler.

Casket bearers will be members of Fred Willier camp.

Mr. Dwyer died Saturday in Veterans hospital, Knoxville, Ia., at the age of 64.

Former Vaudeville Acrobat
Succumbs to Heart and
Lung Ailments

Charles Richard Dwyer, 700 South Street, past commander of Fred Willier camp 11, United Spanish War Veterans, died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday in Veterans hospital, Knoxville, Iowa, of a lung and heard ailment and complications. He was 64 years old.

He served as commander of Fred Willier camp in 1927. A resident of Waterloo for 30 years, he came here from Terre Haute, Indiana. Until about 24 years ago he appeared in a vaudeville acrobat act, which was presented at various fairs in this vicinity. At one time he also traveled with a minstrel show.

Sold Tires and Seeds

After he left the show business, Dwyer was employed as a tire salesman and later as a salesman for he Kiester-Hall seed company. He also sold monuments at one time. Subsequently he went into business for himself, servicing sewing machines.

He was born November 21, 1877, at Decorah, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Dwyer. On July 5, 1919, he married Bertha Ferris at Hampton, Iowa.

He enlisted in the United States Army on July 8, 1898, as a private in Company I, Forty-ninth infantry, and served in the Spanish-American war in Cuba. On May 18, 1899, he was mustered out at Savannah, Georgia.

Surviving are his widow, ... a step-son, Leo H. Ferris... a sister, Mrs. Grace Riehm, Terre Haute, Indiana; three grandchildren. . . .
