WATERLOO - Mary Etta Tromanhauser, 89, of Lochbuie, Colo., formerly of Ackley, Parkersburg and Waterloo, died at home June 29.

She was born April 12, 1925, in Waterloo, daughter of Leonard Orlando Reed and Ella Belle Atkins. She married Jack N. Tromanhauser on July 28, 1951; he died in 2003.

She graduated from high school in Waterloo. Mary worked during World War II at Chamberlain Manufacturing inspecting bombs, and then moved to Washington, D.C., to work at the U.S. Pentagon as a secretary for a U.S. army colonel. She and her husband then ran Tromanhauser Furniture and Auction for almost 40 years.

Survived by her significant other, Karl Schiff of Lochbuie; three sons, Mark (LeAnn) of The Woodlands, Texas, Terry of Atlanta and Larry (Linda) of Yuba, Wis.; two daughters, Pamela Tromanhauser of Commerce City, Colo., and Lisa (Bill) Miller of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Hedrick of Waterloo and Sybil Lively of Phoenix; and a brother, Chuck Reed of Waterloo.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Waterloo Memorial Park Chapel, with burial in the cemetery at a later time.

Memorials may be directed to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
