Anthony P. Bacich, 87, of Sumner, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.

Tony was born May 6, 1915 in LaGrande, Oregon, the son of Steve and Mary (Vrban) Bacich. He grew up in Eagle River, Wisconsin, graduated from high school there, received his BA in Education from University of Wisconsin, Madison, and his MA in Music form University of Northern Iowa.

He married Agnes G. Bradley April 19, 1938 in Eagle River, Wisconsin. She died December 13, 1994. He taught orchestra in Appleton, WI from 1947 to 1960 and in the Waterloo Public Schools from 1960 until his retirement in 1977. He taught violin and viola privately for many years and was a member of the Wateloo/Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra. He was also a member of the Waterloo Camera Club and a co founder of the Wisconsin String Teachers Association. He was extremely smart, a student of history and language, and a gifted musician and teacher.

Tony is survived by daughter Judy (Ray) Back of Mountain Home, Arkansas; daughter Carol (Jeremy) Limburg of Sumner; son Tom (Sandy) Bacich of Waterloo; brother Carl of Eagle River; grandchildren Dave, Tom, Mara, Grant, Jake, and Katie; and great granddaughter Raechel.
