Myron E. “Dinty” Moore, 71, of 4175 North Avenue, died on Monday, January 3, 2005 at his home of cancer.

He was born on September 15, 1933 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Seth E. and Florence (Trebil) Moore. He graduated from West High School in 1951.

Dinty married Marian Ileene Howard on June 27, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa. She died November 20, 1987. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Following his time in the Army he worked for A&L Bakery; then for Western Electric, which became AT&T, for 30 years until his retirement in 1986. Dinty was a member of the telephone Pioneers of America, Izaak Walton League, Falling Rock Walleye Club, and Gilbertville American Legion Post #714.

His greatest passion was his grandkids. He devoted a lot of his time to the Izaak Watlon League, and was active as a Hunter’s Safety Instructor. In 1988 he received the Governor’s Award for his service to the State of Iowa. Dinty was also a people person, and was very handy. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it including at his Trailer at Falling Rock.

Dinty is survived by his mother, Florence of Waterloo; three sons: Richard Moore of Waterloo, Ronald (Rebecca) Moore of Waterloo, and Timothy (Kimberly) Moore of Gilbertville; three daughters, Laurie Moore of Waterloo, Susan (Kent)Schwebach of Waterloo and Kathy (Kenton) Lindsey of Goddard, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Ariel, Austin, Matthew, Jordan, Brock, Drew, K.C., Jamie, Kristy, Jillian and Holly; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Ethan.

He is preceded in death by his father; and uncles Beryl “Buck” Trebil and Charles “Chuck” McGrane.
