WATERLOO - Violet Mae Miller Strottman, 76, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Fayette, daughter of George E. and Eva P. Harriman Miller. She married Earl E. Strottman on Sept. 4, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died Sept. 21, 2005.

Mrs. Strottman graduated from Waterloo East High School. She was employed at Rath Packing Co. for several years, and later went to work in the kitchen at Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Frank) Reuter of Waverly; five grandchildren, Maranda Reuter of Ionia, Helaina Reuter of Waverly, DCC (SW/AW) John (Cassandra) Riggle of Norfolk, Va., Tammy Kruckenberg (Tom Siemens) of Waterloo and Heather (Jim) Johnson of Vinton; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, George (Maxine) Miller Jr. of Waterloo, and Jay Butch (Mary Ann) Miller of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Riggle; three brothers, Jay Miller Sr. and two younger brothers; and an infant sister.

Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Saturday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to Bartels Lutheran Home, Cedar Valley Hospice, both in Waverly, or the family.
