Bertha M. Lawrence, 84, of Waterloo died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born September 17, 1918 in Moberly, Missouri the daughter of Robert Lee and Anna Mae (Kribs) Barnett.

She married Verdell Lawrence October 31, 1942 in Moberly. He died February 22, 1956. She worked for Eagle Grocery Store in the produce department and as a checker until retiring in 1983.

Bertha is survived by two daughters: Bev Amfahr and her husband Ron of Waterloo, and Betty Mastain and her husband Jim of Waverly; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; three brothers: J.D. Barnett of Michigan City, Indiana; Clifford Barnett of Seattle, Washington; and Ron Barnett of Jesup, Iowa.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Naomi Rutledge.
