Katherine Eugenia Knode, 87, of 3018 Violet Drive died Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Harlingen Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas from heart failure.

Katherine was born October 9, 1916 in Manitoba, Canada the daughter of George and Vivian (Haslem) Frohardt.

She married Lloyd E. Knode June 22, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. She grew up in Atkinson, Nebraska, graduated from high school there, and received her RN degree in Omaha in 1938. She worked at Allen Memorial Hospital from 1938 until leaving in 1964 when she was head nurse of the nursery. She then worked at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines from 1964 to 1969. Lloyd and Katherine then owned drive in theaters in several towns. They lived in Corydon and owned the 2 and 65 Drive In in Humiston, they owned the Frontier Drive in Bethany, Missouri, and the Town and Country Drive In in Centerville until retiring in 1994. Since then, they lived in Waterloo and spent winters in the south.

Katherine is survived by her husband; three daughters: Sharree Trout and her husband Marlyn of Ash Grove, MO; Joyce Warren and her husband Ron of Waterloo; Paula Mills and her husband Don of Adel, Iowa; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren: Pamela Stufflebeem of Des Moines and her son Dennis; Darla Trout of Merrit Island, FL; Jeffrey (Maria) Mills of Des Moines and their children Drae and Jacqueline; Lynn (Dane) Roaseau of Ash Grove, MO and their daughters Elizabeth and Kymberly; Lisa (Adam) Boege of Reinbeck and their daughter Katelyn; and a sister Eileen Vasicek of Puyallup, Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a twin brother Kenneth Frohardt of Connecticut.
