WATERLOO - Myrtle Irene Fifield, 78, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

She was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Waterloo, daughter of George and Kathlyn Baker Bowser. She married Forrest Junior Fifield in 1953, and they later divorced.

Myrtle attended Waterloo schools, and had worked for 52 years at Packer’s Inn in Waterloo, retiring in 2008.

Survived by a daughter, Vergena Betts of Waterloo; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Daniel (Patty) Bowser of Evansdale.

Preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Duane “Bud” and George Bowser; a sister, Barbara McAhren; and a son-in-law, William “Bill” Betts.

Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
