WATERLOO – Robert C. “Bob” Tharp, 89, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital.

He was born July 23, 1925, in Waterloo, son of John and Catherine Ludivosy Tharp. He married Margaret Lilly on Sept. 2, 1946, in Waterloo; she died July 8, 1998. He married Jeananne Grubb on Nov. 23, 2001, in Waterloo.

Bob was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 39 years, retiring in 1983.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathy Newcomb and Janet (Michael) Lyons, both of Waterloo; a stepson, Gerry Grubb of Des Moines; a stepdaughter, Chris (Todd) Swacker of Waterloo; a stepdaughter-in-law, Sherryl Grubb of Elkhart; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Kathryn Mundt of Traer.

Preceded in death by a stepson, David Grubb; four brothers, Ralph, Wayne, Harvey and Edward; and four sisters, Loretta, Florence, Bertha and Hazel.

Services: were 10:30 a.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway is in charge of arrangements.
