WATERLOO - Douglas Edward Eldridge, 38, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 3, 2008, of accidental drowning in Waterloo.

He was born Sept. 14, 1969, in Waterloo, son of James and Susan Eldridge. He married Heather Sexton on Sept. 20, 2002, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona.

Mr. Eldridge was employed as a signal technician foreman for the city of Waterloo.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Mason and Spencer, both of Waterloo; his parents of Centerton, Ark.; three stepbrothers, Jason of Lincoln, Neb., Benjamin of Suffolk, Va., and Caleb of Portland, Ore.; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary Jo and Craig Sexton of Monona; a brother-in-law, Joe Sexton of the U.S. Navy; grandmother-in-law, Emma Sexton of Scotland, S.D.; nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and extended relatives.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Heights Community Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with inurnment at 1:30 p.m. in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Roberson Funeral Home, Strawberry Point, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial fund has been established for the children.

WATERLOO - The Waterloo Police Department is asking for the public's assistance in locating a missing Waterloo man.

Investigators state that Douglas Edward Eldridge was last seen at his residence on Fleur Drive in Waterloo on Sunday around 7 p.m.

Douglas Eldridge is a white male, age 38, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 240 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. His present clothing description is unknown.

Investigators believe that he left his residence on a bicycle sometime after 7 p.m. on Sunday.

On noon Tuesday, investigators found a bicycle on the west side of town. Family members have positively identified this bicycle as belonging to Eldridge.

Investigators do not suspect foul play is involved with his disappearance.

If anyone has information about Douglas Eldridge's whereabouts they should call the Waterloo Police Department Watch Commander at 319-291-4349.

WATERLOO (AP) - A body found in the Cedar River in Waterloo has been identified as a man who has been missing since last Sunday.

Police say the state medical examiner's office identified the body as 38-year-old Douglas Eldridge of Waterloo.

Police say he was last seen leaving his house on a bicycle. The bike was found on Tuesday.

The body was found on Thursday near the National Cattle Congress grounds.

The medical examiner has ruled that Eldridge died of drowning.
