CEDAR FALLS - Richard A. “Rick” Andersen, 69, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

He was born May 9, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Paul and Helen Schaefer Leahy, and after the death of his father, was raised by his mother and adoptive father, Earl “Andy” Andersen. He married Mercy Tabaquero Vidad on Oct. 25, 1997, in Cedar Falls.

Rick graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1963 and earned his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Iowa in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was office manager with Weisman Steel Supply and then worked in various locations throughout the United States with Community Counseling Service. He later owned and operated Pour Richards, retiring in 2004.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Abel and Beau, both of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Bianca and Cypriss Andersen, both of Cedar Falls; three stepdaughters, Eugilia Olson of Iowa, Vida (Jason Cooper) Limon of Clinton, Tenn., and Alexis Limon of Waterloo; six grandchildren; and a nephew, Brett (Stephanie) Andersen of Missouri.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Allan and Kermit; and a sister, Alice Mary Morford.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Wesleyan Church, Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 Honor Guard and the Iowa Patriot Guard Riders. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service.
