Edgar W. Kersenbrock, 88, of Waterloo died Wednesday August 4, 2004 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

Ed was born March 11, 1916 in Crete Nebraska, the son of August W. And Florence (Campbell) Kersenbrock.

He married Mary Catherine (Kay) Kersenbrock January 7, 1943 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Victor, Iowa. Ed graduated from South High School in Omaha in 1933 and received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He actively served in the United States Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict retiring as a Commander in the Naval Reserves in 1972.

Ed is the name sake of Kersenbrock Auditorium at Waterloo West High School where he was Vice Principal from 1954 to 1985. He was also a member of St. Edward Catholic Church.

He was devoted to his family. Respect, education, and honesty were all very important to Ed. He was active in athletics including being named Athlete of the year in 1939 while attending college. He was also the recipient of a gold medal at the Iowa Games for bowling.

Ed is survived by three daughters Sharon Kersenbrock, Sue Schuman, and Sara Kersenbrock all of Waterloo, a sister Carol Keenan of Omaha, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Kay in 2002, his beloved son Stephen Michael in 1996, his parents and his sister Gertrude.
