WATERLOO - Larry C. Polen, 67, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at Cox Health Systems, Springfield, Mo.

He was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Springfield, Ill., son of Calvin A. "Cap" and Florence Bokus Polen, and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Florence and George Pinske. He married Ingrid D. Colter on Dec. 7, 1968, in Ottawa, Ill. She died April 8, 2003.

Mr. Polen served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He received a degree from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Mo., and was an ordained minister, serving in Georgia. He also had taught elementary school in Georgia, and later worked at Viking Pump Co., Cedar Falls, retiring in 2003.

Survived by a daughter, Karla (Richard) Murray of Republic, Mo.; a son, Chris of Houston; four grandchildren, Kayla, Dustin and Whittney Murray, and Andrew Michael; two brothers, John (Lynn) Polen of Ottawa and Richard (Judy) Pinske of Black Falls, Ill.; and a sister, Mary (Lyle) Wigness of Ottawa.

Preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Pinske; and his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 1 to 4 p.m. today and for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
