WATERLOO - William "Bill" Hilsman, 73, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at home.

He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Waterloo, son of Frank and Catherine Casey Hilsman. He married Jean Halpin on Nov. 18, 1961, in Elma.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Hilsman was employed with Rath Packing Co., John Deere and later with Van Lines Moving Co.

Survived by his wife; a brother, Bob of San Antonio; a sister, Thelma (Robert) Braun of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
