WATERLOO - Lorene A. Brink, 86, of Waterloo, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 16, 1922, in Ayshire, daughter of William F. and Kathryn Briggs Russell. She married Robert V. Brink on April 9, 1939, in Madrid. He died Jan. 20, 1971.

Mrs. Brink worked for Iowa Public Service (MidAmerican Energy) for 28 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Survived by three sons, Jerry (Betty) of Marshalltown, Terry of Cloquet, Minn., and John (Eileen) of Waterloo; two daughters, Sandie (Terry) Scheffert and Kathy Brink, both of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren, Randy Brink, Lisa (Johnny) Manchon, Tony (Bert) Brink, Melissa (David) Manchon, Terry (Jane) Brink II, Robbie Orr, Bridget Orr, Annie (Robert) Sterrett, Eric (Amy) George, Michelle (Andy) Liljegren-Buehler, Heather (Noel) Liljegren-Anderson, Scott Hundley and Belicia (Matt) Barker; 27 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, William C. Russell of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn A. Waters; and a daughter-in-law, Char Brink.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Lorene enjoyed cooking her specialties, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She always will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her unconditional love for her family.
