Susan Mary Brodie, 56, of Shell Rock, died Saturday, June 21, 2008, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born July 15, 1951, in Cedar Falls, daughter of Leslie and Eunice Luck Christiansen. She married Charles Max Brodie in New Hartford, and they were later divorced. She later married Dirk Kermit Miller, and he died in 2003.

She graduated from New Hartford High School in 1969 and went to work at Plastronics in Grundy Center and then Rada Manufacturing. In 1981, she attended Pitzies Beauty School, Waterloo. She then went on to Hawkeye Tech, Waterloo.

She started working at the Shell Rock Care Center in 1999 and in 2004 she was forced to quit because of her health.

Survived by two sons, John Brodie and Christopher Miller, both of Shell Rock; three brothers, David and Daniel Christiansen, both of New Hartford, and Jeffrey (Patti) Christiansen of Tecumseh, Okla.; and a sister, Louise Vance of Clarksville.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a stillborn son, Michael Brodie.

Memorial services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ, Clarksville, with burial of cremains at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, New Hartford. Public visitation for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, assisted the family.
