WATERLOO - Evonne J. Bentley, 61, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 14, at Allen Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 4, 1947, in Waterloo, daughter of Dale and Leona Schweer Heath. She married Eugene Lampe on Sept. 27, 1964, in Denver, and they later divorced. She then married Charles Bentley on April 8, 1972, and they later divorced.
Ms. Bentley attended Denver High School, Denver, and later earned her GED. She graduated from Hawkeye Community College with an associate degree in mechanical drafting. She worked with various companies, including the Purple Parrott, Allen Hospital, Wal-Mart Photography and also sold Tupperware for many years. She was a Head Start teacher in Waterloo and served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She assisted with the para-olympics and was an honorary member of Evansdale AMVETS Post.
Survived by a son, Nicholas Lampe of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Natasha (Ken) Packard of Cedar Falls, Leah (Chad) Morgan of New Hartford and Tenille Bentley Marovets of Dunkerton; eight grandchildren, Chelsea and Daniel Loftus, Austin and Courtney Packard, Dakota and Drake Morgan, Austin Marovets and Abigail Hoffman; a great-granddaughter, Ny'Areeyah Jones; her parents of Grundy Center; a brother, Dennis (Sandy) Heath of Mission, Texas; and a sister, Debra (Dennis) Cameron of Steamboat Rock.
Family-directed memorial services: 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Public visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Garden View Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Evonne liked to play bingo, crocheting and fishing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
