WATERLOO - Lila M. Anton, 95, of Waterloo, died Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Friendship Village of a stroke.

She was born Nov. 10, 1912, in Washington County, daughter of Herschel and Atta Lee Pringle Harreld. She married Myron Anton on June 17, 1939, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died July 3, 2000.

She graduated from Iowa Normal School and was a teacher in public school for seven years in Janesville and later rural country school in Black Hawk County. She was a member of PEO, Child Study Club, Golden Apples and participated in a Pen Pal Program.

Survived by a son, Nick (Marcia) of Santa Rosa, Calif.; a daughter, Jane Anton (Pam Schnebelen) of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Christen (Rick) Peters of Olympia, Wash., William (Meredith) Anton of West Dover, Vt., and Amy Anton (Todd Johnson) of San Francisco; and five great-grandchildren, Molly, Adam, Lucy, Colette and Miles.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Alma Throckmorton and Leta Lynch.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterloo First United Methodist Church, with family burial preceding services at Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village Foundation.
