JESUP - Richard William "Dick" Yount, 87, of Jesup, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a short illness.

He was born June 17, 1927, in Waterloo, son of Henry James and Amy Marjorie Share Yount. On Nov. 12, 1949, he married Georgiann Josephine Ehr at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup.

Dick graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1945, and served in the U.S. Navy during the occupation of Japan. He worked as a credit manager, tax preparer, and as a real estate broker and salesman. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church and past president of the Jesup Lions Club.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Vicky (Bob) Ryherd of Ankeny and Mary (Craig) Clark of Waterloo; four sons, James (Deborah) of Auburn, Ala., Robert (Paula) of Waterloo, William of Greenfield and John (Betsy) of Northampton, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Newberry of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with military rites by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to the church and Cedar Valley Hospice.
