CEDAR FALLS - George R. Isley, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

He was born Aug. 15, 1923, in Cedar Falls, son of Will and Kathryn Hansen Isley. He married Lorraine Nielsen on March 21, 1945, at the Little Brown Church near Nashua.

George farmed, bred and sold English shepherd puppies as stock dogs, and founded and ran Ag-Air Ltd., a crop spraying service. George was past president of the Iowa Agricultural Aviation Association, a Black Hawk County Soil Commissioner, a charter member of the Cedar Falls Rural Fire Department, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Janice (Earl) Smith of Liberty, Mo., and Arlinda McKeen of Urbandale; a son, Gaylon (Chris) of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Matthew and Burton Smith, Nathan McKeen, Amy McKeen Toth, and Catherine and Will Isley; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Wilma Gormly.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with private burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to the family for use to support activities for residents of the Western Home Communities Martin Center.

George was a talented woodworker, producing walnut furniture and knick-knacks.
