Gary Allen Friday, 60, of Guttenberg, formerly of Jesup, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, in Glen Haven Township, Glen Haven, Wis., from injuries sustained in a train-pedestrian accident.

He was born Nov. 27, 1944, in Independence, son of Harold and Velda Wasserfort Friday. On Dec. 14, 1963, he married Linda McGrath at Grace Lutheran Church, Jesup.

Mr. Friday retired from John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works in 1995.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tracy (Brian) Ciuffo of Bealeton, Va.; a son, Dean (Charlene Clark) of Guttenberg; his parents of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Vickie Leonard (Steve Shode) of Jacksonville, Fla.; three granddaughters; and two brothers, Lowell (Trudy) of Wyoming, Minn., and Wayne of Hudson, Fla.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg, with burial in Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Guttenberg, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

GLEN HAVEN, Wis. (AP) - Two Iowans waiting for a northbound train to pass near a boat landing in southwestern Wisconsin were hit and killed by a southbound freight.

The Grant County Sheriff's Department identified the victims of Tuesday's accident as Gary Friday, 60, of Guttenberg, Iowa, and John Jackson, 49, of Center Point, Iowa.

Sheriff's officials said the men were standing on the tracks waiting for the first train to go by about 11:40 a.m. when the southbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train approached, was unable to stop and hit them.

The coroner pronounced them dead at the scene.
