WATERLOO - Bob Vaverka, 86, of Waterloo, died July 10, 2014, from complications of a stroke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Cedar Heights Baptist Church, 2430 Neola St., Cedar Falls, followed by a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorials will go toward Bob's cemetery marker.

Announcement of the July 10, 1949 marriage of Juanita Lorraine Pierson to Orvis Bert "Bob" Vaverka at Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo. Bride's mother is mentioned as Mrs. Charles A. Patrick, 1003 Franklin Street, Waterloo. Groom is the son of Alvin G. Vaverka, Sr., of Los Angeles and Mrs. George L. (Francis J.) Dibble of Cedar Rapids.

At the time of the marriage, Bob was employed by the American Weekly Co. and Phillip & Van Orden Co. of San Francisco, where the couple made their home after a honeymoon.

Frances "Berneice" (Vaverka) Mullarky of Charles City. Survivors included a brother Orvis "Bob" (Juanita) Vaverka of Waterloo. Preceded by another brother Alvin Vaverka.
