Louis Snowden, Formerly of This City Dies at Pekin, Ill

The news of the death of Louis I. Snowden was received in this city last evening when his relatives opened a message from the Typographical union located at Pekin, Ill., to the effect that the young man had died the night before of hemorrhage of the bowels. The news was a great surprise to his father and sister in this city, for only yesterday noon they received a letter from Louis, stating that his old trouble had returned, but not seriously. His father thought nothing unusual of the matter, as the son had often written that way, he having been, troubled with hemorrhages ever since his return from the Spanish-American War.

Louis I. Snowden was too well known by the people of Waterloo to need any comment at this time.

He was born in this city on June 21, 1871*, and reared here, living with his parents on West Fourth Street. He was prominent in telephone work while living here and also worked in many of the local printing shops, in the capacity of type-setter always working to the advantage of his employer.

Ten years ago he left this city and since that time has had a varied career. He has been in nearly all of the states and also in Canada. He joined Co. B from this city and went to Cuba with them, remaining there in the signal service work, after the company returned to the United States.

He had been working at Pekin for some time and was well known there, where he held a prominent office in the Typographical union.

The father here wired to the union to forward the remains at once, and word has been received that this request would be complied with.

Louis Snowden is survived by his father, George O., of this city and a sister, Mrs. Ella Wright, also of Waterloo.

Funeral arrangements have not been made, but upon the arrival of the body, they will be perfected.
