CEDAR FALLS - Dr. Kenneth Kirk Harris, DO, 37, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Sartori Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 5, 1970, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, son of Kenneth and Jean Coon Harris. He married Katherine Marie "Katie" Dorsey on May 12, 1994, in Idaho Falls.

Dr. Harris graduated from Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho, in 1988. He attended Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho, for a year before attending Idaho State University where he earned two Bachelor of Science degrees, one in microbiology and the other in medical technology. In 2000, he graduated from the Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Broadlawns Family Practice residency program in Des Moines from 2000-2003.

He practiced at the South Bend Clinic at Skyway Primary Care, South Bend, Ind., from 2003-2005, then had been in practice at Physicians Immediate Care Center in Pocatello from 2005-2006. Beginning in December 2006, he was on staff as a family practice physician at Covenant Clinic in Waterloo. He was being trained for the position of assistant medical examiner of Black Hawk County.

Survived by his wife; four children, Kallie Marie, Caleb Kirk, Katelyn Paige and Caden Mathew, all at home; his parents of Pocatello; a sister, Wendy (Brian) Deffinger of Logan, Utah; and a brother, Robb (Krista) of Cleveland, Ohio.

Preceded in death by maternal and paternal grandparents.

Public visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richardson Funeral Home. Services will take place in Pocatello with the Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, (208) 232-7199, in charge of arrangements.
