WATERLOO - Gary W. Rosenkrans, 74, of Waterloo, died at home Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 of cancer.

He was born May 30, 1940, in Waterloo, son of Frank and Winona DeVore Rosenkrans. He married Nadine Rice in Waterloo at Union Gospel Church on Aug. 5, 1961.

Gary graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1958 and attended some classes at the University of Northern Iowa. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for seven years, attaining the rank of corporal. He began as a lineman for Iowa Public Service (MidAmerican Energy), and retired in 1993 as a design engineer after 34 years of service. He was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church and a past commander at Burton Avenue Baptist Church Awana Clubs.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Lori (Doug) Farrell of Forest City; a son, Lorin of Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Janet Clark of Waterloo; a brother, Ken (Francene) of Phoenix; and a sister-in-law, Judy Rosenkrans of Biloxi, Miss.

Preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank; and a brother-in-law, Larry Clark.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagerman Baptist Church, with visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home Inc. (note correct location of visitation).
