CEDAR FALLS - Alvin John “Al” Beenken, 64, of Cedar Falls, died at home Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014.

He was born April 29, 1950, in Waterloo, son of Henry J. and Maria Giordano Beenken. He married Martha Gorton on Dec. 21, 1974, in Waterloo.

Al graduated from Waterloo East High School. He worked for the Black Hawk County Engineer’s Office for 24 years and has owned and operated Video Memories in Cedar Falls since 1985.

Survived by his wife; and three daughters, Kathy Beenken of Nashville, Tenn., Kristine Beenken of Cedar Falls and Karla (Jeremy) Brickhouse of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosalie Schull; and a brother, Henry C.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Conger Street Church of God, Waterloo, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, Waterloo, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
